I posted a few of these thoughts on the Ducks’ thread as well. Overall, the Ducks played the better game last night & deserved to win. In some ways, I’m kind of glad it worked out like it did so we didn’t have to hear about ridiculous conspiracy theories, because that missed cross-check by Johansen led directly to the tying goal, and it occurred by the boards. How did the refs miss that? Sheesh. The lucky bounce on the OT goal was probably karmic payback for the missed call.
I think the series has been pretty even overall. But I do believe Gibson has outplayed Rinne (who has let in at least 2-3 “soft” goals, mostly high on the blocker side). Usually when Pekka sees a puck, he can stop it. Gibson hasn’t been better by much, but enough to keep the Ducks in a couple of games they should’ve lost handily. And to think, most people thought Gibson was the weak link.
It’s hard to question Laviolette’s adjustments and lineup changes due to his success in the playoffs over time. But having Parenteau & McLeod combine for a total of 13 minutes in ice time? Once they got down 2-0, he had to be regretting that decision. Maybe Harry Z is banged up, and Smith must really not be close to returning. Now with Fisher likely out…Lavy is going to have to find something special in his line combos.
If Fisher & Smith remain out, the Defense is going to have to be super-active to help with scoring depth. There was an article before the playoffs that Colin Wilson didn’t like the nickname “Playoff Colin Wilson.” Do you think he’s trying to get rid of that moniker by just being invisible during these playoffs? If he doesn’t get going, or the Preds don’t get some supplementary scoring by their depth forwards…they are in deep trouble.

2nd: I am assuming that a group of players who are playing in the WCF for the first time, would not come out so flat, so lazy, so nonchalant that they get out shot 14-2 in the first period. (WTF MAN what an embarrassment, they should be ashamed of themselves.)
You are right about one thing Paul, they need to do some serious soul searching, they are starting to believe their own hype and are believing they deserve to win, they are not trying to earn it anymore and that first period offended me to the point I literally about left and I did leave in the third. WHY should I give a team my best, when they do not come out and give me their best (looking at the preds team) SHAME ON YOU...
3rd. Pekka couldn't stop a beach ball on his blocker side.
4th. Why didnt coach Lavy call a time out in the first period? I know you want to save them for a coaches challenge but when you see that type of play out of your time, use it and knock them on the head...
5th. MAKE SOME NOISE.. got old after the first period... Hey PAUL, here is a hint... if they played well you would have to try and coach NOISE out of the crowd.
6th. TO the A=holes in front of me.. YOU DONT HAVE TO STAND THE WHOLE DARN GAME..... Just sayn
7th. Mike Fisher if he is out I'm officially hitting the panic button |

Rainy and cold with a chance of murder hahahaha all jokes a side I will be visiting that fair city in June for my nephews graduation. It will be nice to be back in the Midwest. Although Chicago does smell like cat pee |

Gee, maybe there should be a thread in the forums for a rehashing of the Blackhawks' glorious history. I'd like to think that Ducks and Preds fans deserve to not hear another word about them until they lace up their skates in September. |

This series has been great, both teams trading blows and taking over at times.
I think the key is Rinne, he's been letting in some goals he was stopping the first two rounds but kudos to the Ducks for throwing everything at the net.
For the Ducks, Gibson has been great, although it looks to me like he's hurt and I mean that by he's slow to get up sometimes but whatever its not affecting his game one bit.
I thought this series would go 7 looking more like it with every game and although tough for a Kings fan to acknowldege the Ducks, they keep coming back everytime you think they are down so may the best team win. |

That's what happens when teams like yours & the Penguins receive so many top 5 picks in a row. |

Gibson is always slow to get up. He tries pretty hard to look nonchalant.
